Edith Stein was born into a Jewish family. In her search for the Truth, she became an atheist, a philosopher, a Christian, a Catholic and finally a Carmelite nun. On a visit to a friend’s house, she found the autobiography of the fifteenth century Carmelite reformer, St. Teresa of Jesus, which she read in one night. Upon finishing the book she declared, “This is the Truth!” During World War II,
because of her Jewish heritage, she and her sister, Rosa were sent to Auschwitz/Birkenau where she died on August 9, 1942. Pope John Paul II canonized her as St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross in 1998 and made her co-patroness of Europe in 1999. Her feast day is August 9th.

I have just read the account to Joe of St Teresa Benedicta of the cross, we both knew about this Saint but were moved when we read the full account of this very brave Saint. I knew all along that Our Lord puts all Popes on the throne but this is proof beyond doubt, what his mission was by making so many marvelous Saints. Raymond
Small is big; I beleive that this saint, Saint Theresa Benedicta of the Cross answered a small prayer today. It’s the little movements of the Spirit that seem to make life work and feel better. I am glad to make her aquaintance.
