Prayer card
The miraculous image of our Lady of Guadalupe first appeared on the tilma of St. Juan Diego December 12, 1531 and almost over night the blood sacrifices of the native Indians’ religion stopped. The original image is always at a temperature of 98.6 degrees, no matter what the temperatures are in the surrounding environment. The image also repells dust and insects. A Japanese optician in the 1970′s examined her eyes. He fainted and when he had recovered, he said that the eyes were alive and looking at him! There are even little veins on the eyelids. In the eyes there are three images reflected, just like any normal human eye. Two of the images are thought to be of St. Juan Diego and Bishop Juan de Zumárraga. Our Lady is letting us know that she is very much alive and ever our Mother. The original image has even withstood a bomb which was hidden in flowers on the altar. It mangled the crucifix above the altar, but didn’t even crack the glass on the
image. The stars on her mantel show the winter solstice and the exact formation of the stars when she appeared to St. Juan Diego. But the formation of the stars is shown looking down from Heaven, not as we see them as we look up.
The prayer card features “The Memorare“.
The bookmark features “The Memorare” on the front and Our Lady’s words to St. Juan Diego on the back.
