St. Francis Xavier

St.Francis Xavier was born April 7, 1506 and died December 3, 1552 on Shangchuan Island, Jiangmen, China.   Born into an influential noble family, he was a Navarrese Catholic missionary and  a co-founder of the Society of Jesus. Known as the “Apostle of the Indies“, “Apostle of the Far East“, “Apostle of China” and “Apostle of Japan”, he is considered to be one of the greatest missionaries since  St. Paul the Apostle.

He was Buried in the  Basilica of Bom Jesus, Ella, India.  He was canonized March 12, 1622.  His feast day is December 3.
