James: Male Angel Note Cards

$2.50$19.80

This Angel honors St. James the Great.   “James” is the English variant of the Hebrew name” Jacob”.  The Angel holds a crest with three gold shells on a blue background.  This signifies that St. James was the first missionary.  He was also the first to be martyred.

In the New Testament, there were two apostles known as James, though the Old Testament version of the name is always Jacob.  The apostles are known as “James the Greater” and “James the Less”, This was not for one apostle being greater than the other, but because one was either bigger or taller.

St. James is the patron of Spain and, according to legend, his remains are held in Santiago de Compostela in Galicia. The traditional pilgrimage to the grave of the saint, known as the “Way of St. James” , has been the most popular pilgrimage for Western European Catholics from the early Middle Ages.  It starts in Ireland.

St. James has a few Feast Days: 25 July (Western Christianity), 30 April (Eastern Christianity), 30 December  (Hispanic).
