The original title of the statue that this rubber stamp was taken from was Our Lady of the Assumption. However, it has since become known as “Our Lady of the Smile” because around 1882, St. Thérèse, the Little Flower, was healed from a mysterious illness when she saw the statue come to life and smile at her. The original statue is now at the Carmelite convent of Lisieux in the room where Thérèse died.
