St. Andrew Dung Lac Print

St. Andrew Dung Lac was born some time in 1795 and was martyred by beheading on December 21, 1839, during the rein of Minh Mang. He was a Roman Catholic priest, ordained on March 15, 1823. He was born Trần An Dũng, and was baptized André (Andrew) at his baptism. He changed his name Lac to avoid capture and is called Andrew Dung Lac today.

On November 24, 1900, he was beatified by Pope Leo XIII and canonized on June 19, 1988 by Pope St. John Paul II.

He is the patron of the Diocese of Orange, CA.
