Brief biography and prayer to St. Lorenzo Ruiz

St. Lorenzo Ruiz had a Filipino mother and a Chinese

father.  He was martyred in Nagasaki, Japan in 1637.

His feast day is 29 September.  When faced with torture

and death, this courageous layman refused to renounce

his faith with these words: “I am a Catholic and I whole-

heartedly accept death fro my God; if I had a thousand lives, I would offer them all to Him.’

Let us pray:  “Father, kayo sent your Word to bring us

truth, and your Spirit to make us holy.  Emboldened

by that same Spirit, St. Lorenzo Ruiz suffered

martyrdom giving witness to the gospel.  Give us the

same courage and boldness to proclaimer faith in

our lives.  An through he intercession of

St. Lorenzo Ruiz, continue to bless your Church in

the Orient, so that all can know the name of

Jesus Christ, our Lord.  Amen.
